The KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Provincial Government, intend to develop a Provincial Government Precinct in Pietermaritzburg. The primary objective of the project is to provide office accommodation for the various provincial government departments that are currently scattered across Pietermaritzburg. Accordingly, Jinyela Consulting Engineers in association MAP AFRICA Engineers were appointed to undertake a Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) in support of the proposed development. The proposed Provincial Government Precinct will be an iconic development that will certainly change the skyline of Pietermaritzburg and will set the tone for future developments within the city. It is envisaged that the proposed development scheme will include the following land uses:

- Conference Centre
- Provincial Legislature Building and Chambers
- Provincial Archive Repository Buildings
