The Kings Estate Housing Project is a major residential development of 4,926 residential units. This development is planned for Sites 2D and 2E of the Wewe Driefontein Mixed-Use Development. This TIA utilised an AIMSUN microsimulation model to assess the project’s impact across three scenarios up to the 2032 horizon. The project’s core access strategy involves upgrading the P25 (R614) and Egret Road intersection into a high-capacity signalized junction to support future traffic demand.
The development commits to sustainable transport, integrating both Public Transport (PT) and Non-Motorised Transport (NMT). The PT strategy requires the provision of laybys ensuring a maximum pedestrian walking distance of 400 meters to a stop. For NMT, the internal road network will feature high-quality sidewalks, with construction commencing after the core internal roads are completed.
