Located in Ward 83, the Umlazi J-Node is a secondary hub identified for revitalization under the National Treasury’s Neighbourhood Development Partnership Grant (NDPG). This initiative aims to address historical socioeconomic disparities and transform the area into a vibrant economic precinct. As such, the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality’s Economic Development Unit required a comprehensive Precinct Plan for the Umlazi J-Node.
To support this vision, Jinyela (Pty) Ltd was appointed as the specialist sub-consultant to conduct a Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA). Utilizing an AIMSUN micro-simulation model, the TIA analyses current and future transportation demands. This study serves as a strategic blueprint to align transportation infrastructure with land-use planning for the precinct’s future development.
