PARKING RELAXATION FOR THE PROTEA FIRE & ICE HOTEL

The applicant, Protea Hotels, intended to install a new water storage tank and a new electricity generator located on the existing parking floors of the hotel. As such, the hotel development would lose a total of 26 bays, due to the installation creating a 12% shortfall in parking.

A parking relaxation report was prepared which showcased that the reduction in on-site parking bays can be easily alleviated by considering mitigating conditions that are applicable to this particular development.

As part of the Parking Relaxation Report, Jinyela Consulting Engineers assessed the following:

  • E-hailing Services
  • Accessibility of the site by public transport
  • Non-Motorised Transport which included walking and cycling
  • Number of Staff Members and Customers Related to the Use of the Land or the Building on the Site
